07-29-2007 Last day before drywall
Well, it turned out that the builder had to reschedule the mechanical walk through for Friday instead of Thursday, so we asked that they not hang any drywall until after our walk through. This ultimately gave us the weekend to do some work on the house while we could still see the studs.
Thursday night, even though we did not have the walk through yet, we met Brent there and did some of the work we needed to. We ran a cable through the wall for the sub-woofer, ran a cat6 cable in the office, minor stuff like that.
We met Brent there again today, and did some more work. We hung 2×8’s between the studs in places we knew we would be hanging heavy things on the walls, and ran a few chases from the attic all the way into the basement. No PVC or anything, just some strings so we can pull cable after the drywall is hung, should we ever need to. No new pictures or anything, but they are hanging the drywall tomorrow (they expect to finish it all in one day), so hopefully we’ll get some good pictures of the inside of the house soon.
07-25-2007 – Not much new
There really isn’t much new with the house. I think I finally fixed the picture issue in the last post, so you should be able to see the house fully framed below.
Our mechanical walk through is tomorrow, but we did one on our own after work yesterday so it should be rather uneventful. There were a few issues that we found last night (missing electrical outlet, speaker wire run to the wrong place), but that should all be resolved before our walk though. We have some work to do ourselves tomorrow night after the walk through, but nothing major, just running a few wires and such before the drywall goes up Friday. My dad and brother are going to meet us over there to help out, so things should go smooth. I had really hoped that we would have a weekend in between the walk through and the drywalling to do some other stuff we’d like to do, but that is not going to be the case.
Just so there is a picture, here is the view out the living room window with the actual windows installed. Think they will remember to level the window?
07.02.2007 – Basement poured; Framing started
We now have a basement floor, a garage floor, and they’ve started to frame in the house:
Here is an early picture of Rachel and I that I neglected to post:
We did not take many pictures in WV, so there are not any worth posting. We went to Nelson Rock Preserve instead of Seneca – Rachel and I will have to make a run to Seneca when we have a free weekend so we can get her on the summit. We had a blast, as we always do in WV.
